Memorial Park

With the support of the Village of Nyack, the Nyack Pollinator Pathway expanded into Memorial Park in 2021 with the planting of fields of wildflowers surrounding the gazebo looking out onto the Hudson River. These fields had been a palate of exclusively grasses, and we added several species of native wildflowers that grow symbiotically with these grasses in the wild, turning the fields into a prairie-scape of pollinator-friendly beauty.

Also, in 2024, the Pathway created a ‘pollinator island’ by filling out an existing large garden bed by the basketball court with a wide array of blooming shrubs and perennials. We are eager to watch birds, bees and butterflies foraging throughout this bed as it continues to grow in over future seasons.

We’ll be adding more pollinator plantings in Memorial Park over the next several years so keep watching this space!
